Welcome to the One Little Word Blog Hop!
My word for the year is embrace.
I want to be better about embracing the projects I undertake and getting them done without too much agonizing and perfectionism, so I decided to participate in this blog hop to give myself a deadline for the January assignment from Ali's class. I don't totally love the final result - the mix of papers isn't quite right - but I am EMBRACING it as is. Maybe I will change them up, maybe not, for now I am calling it good enough.
Our assignment this month was to look up the definition of your word, its synonyms, a quote that included your word, and to explain why you chose it. The linguist in me loved this task! Here is what I did:
I think the quote is my favorite part: "It takes a lot of courage to release the familiar and seemingly secure, to embrace the new. But there is no real security in what is no longer meaningful. There is more security in the adventurous and exciting, for in movement there is life, and in change there is power."
-- Alan Cohen
The participants in the blog hop are all in the class. Next up: Kathryn!

great job on the layout and the colors really do look great together
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you're embracing your layout as is. I think the colors are very bold and vibrant. May you enjoy your journey with your word this year.
ReplyDeleteWonderful quote!
ReplyDeleteLove that quote! Your page is just great! Do embrace it! :)
ReplyDeleteThe mix of papers is great!!! Such an awesome quote, too.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful page!
ReplyDeleteI like your color mix. Sometimes I seem to see color mixtures that all look the same, because those colors are 'in' for the season. My concern is this: are the colors that are 'in vogue' the colors that speak to your own soul? Creativity is not about following what someone else feels but about what speaks outward from your own being.
ReplyDeleteGreat quote and good to embrace what is yours.
ReplyDeleteWell I like your colors! Love the quote too - just awesome!
ReplyDeleteI love your title page! Great job with the January prompt too!
ReplyDeleteAh love it...embrace what is, and "don't let the perfect be the enemy of the good". Don't we all need to hear that?!?!
ReplyDeletegreat quote - and your page is worthy of embracing!
ReplyDeleteLove your color mix, nicely done! And we're onto embracing February!!
ReplyDeleteThat is a really powerful quote, thanks for sharing! I'll have to remind myself of that the next time I'm having trouble letting go of something that I no longer really like but have held onto for sentimental reasons...
ReplyDeleteDon't change a thing it's lovely!
ReplyDeletehugs Claudia
